Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) are stormwater control measures (SCMs) that capture, manage, and treat stormwater runoff by mimicking natural hydrologic and pollutant removal processes.
Green roofs treat stormwater where it lands.
As the leader in the sustainable water industry, AQUALIS is able to provide insight and expertise to your project.
Infiltration is the process of water runoff absorbing into the groundwater. This method of stormwater management is ideal as it allows runoff to percolate and return to the groundwater supply. Infiltration devices are trenches or basins that fill with stormwater and allow it to exfiltrate into the surrounding soil.
Infiltration basins are a stormwater control measure (SCM) most often implemented in moderate climates. These basins are created to enhance the natural ability of soil to drain and filter stormwater by providing a large, permeable surface. The soil type is of upmost importance as these sites are intended to temporarily hold and filter stormwater runoff. Infiltration basins should fully filter stormwater in 72 hours. Underdrains may be installed underneath to ensure the stormwater filters and returns to groundwater. Constructed as shallow depressions, the bottom of these basins are flat and may contain gravel, sand or drought tolerant species.
Infiltration basin maintenance includes maintenance of drainage practices upland. Surrounding areas should be stabilized with vegetation to avoid erosion and the formation of rills. Regular maintenance is essential to the success of infiltration basins as they are subject to clogging. Inside these basins maintenance includes replacing gravel or topsoil, clearing inlets, stabilizing surrounding area, removing debris and trash and repairs when necessary.

Some of the benefits of infiltration basins include:
Pollutant Removal
Runoff Reduction
Flood Reduction
Groundwater Recharge
AQUALIS offers comprehensive maintenance and regular servicing solutions tailored to your property to ensure your stormwater systems operate correctly while extending the life of your investment and avoiding costly violations.
Stormwater asset designed to hold a permanent volume of water at all times with extra capacity for rain events.
Stormwater asset designed to temporarily hold volumes of water during and shortly after a rain event.
Stormwater asset designed to allow runoff to infiltrate therefore improving water quality while slowing water velocity.
Gabion Baskets
Stormwater asset that prevents erosion by stabilizing and retaining sediment.
Stormwater assets that utilize vegetation to mimic natural processes like infiltration.
Entry and exit points for stormwater conveyance.
Stormwater asset that disperses runoff along a concrete channel, reducing erosion.
Eventually the pollutants compound inside the SCM and impede the asset’s ability to collect additional pollutants. Regularly maintaining the SCMs on your property prevents the assets from failure due to inundation.
