Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) - AQUALIS

What is Ground Penetrating Radar?

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a non-invasive technique used to map and image underground utilities and subsurface layers. GPR employs high-frequency electromagnetic radio waves to penetrate the ground. These waves create an “image” based on the reflected waves. Whenever there is a change in the subsurface electromagnetic properties, such as a shift in the type of soil or the presence of buried objects, the radio waves are reflected to the surface. These reflections are then captured and analyzed to produce detailed images of the subsurface.

Assessing Repairs with GPR

AQUALIS employs advanced ground-penetrating radar (GPR) technology to gain comprehensive insights into the condition and performance of stormwater management systems. This non-invasive method allows for detailed mapping and assessment of underground infrastructure, identifying potential issues such as leaks or structural weaknesses. Understanding the subsurface environment is crucial for effective planning and execution of future developments, ensuring that projects are built on a solid foundation and that existing systems are maintained efficiently. By leveraging ground-penetrating radar, AQUALIS helps clients make informed decisions, optimize repair plans and enhance the longevity and reliability of stormwater management solutions.

Ground Penetrating Radar is widely used in various fields, including archaeology, geology and civil engineering, due to its ability to provide accurate and detailed information without disturbing the ground.
