Catch Basin Repairs
Navigating Stormwater Services
Catch basins can look very different depending on the need of the property they were installed on. Often a concrete structure with a grated opening on the surface of a parking lot or sidewalk that collects stormwater and conveys it through pipelines underground. Grates may be used to collect debris and trash before it enters the pipeline.
Combatting Wear and Tear
Failure points related to surface water inlets are often at junction areas where structures meet and are joined with grouting. With constant exposure to rushing water, these connections endure wear and tear. Unfortunately, storm drains are susceptible to sinkholes especially in the traffic right of way. As the first line of defense, these structures capture trash and debris before it is released into waterways.
In some areas, property owners are required to label these drainage points with markers that say where the water will drain to; rivers, oceans, etc.

Sinkholes
Swales are designed with soil that allows water to infiltrate the ground, providing ground water recharge. Many SCMs utilize sunlight to facilitate evaporation and vegetation to facilitate denitrification
