Integrated Site Design - AQUALIS

Environmental Engineering

Integrated site design focuses on creating holistic design elements and infrastructure that go beyond civil engineering and landscaping to best serve the site function and local ecosystem. AQUALIS specializes in integrating appropriate stormwater control measures in both an aesthetic and functional manner. Using Envision Sustainability practices, integrated site design considers site elements required or desired for usage and integrates Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) into the site design elements. Partnering with sustainability-minded professional environmental and civil engineers at AQUALIS guarantees that your property design will comply with federal, state and local regulations, while also meeting your individual site goals for today and long-term.

What is Integrated Site Design?

Integrated Site Design incorporates stormwater management practices into typical site elements of the overall design. The goal of integrated site design is to reduce pollution and manage excessive volumes of stormwater runoff through intentional design integrations, such as permeable parking spaces or green courtyards. Incorporating stormwater management practices into a site can also provide flood management and improve water quality.

Developing an integrated site design begins with a site discussion of overall site goals. A site assessment is required to understand site conditions and constraints for meeting site goals and incorporating GSI to create a seamless and inviting design. AQUALIS provides the full package of integrated site design services, from initial site goal development and evaluation through site redesign, permitting, and implementation. This ensures that property owners will receive construction-informed design as well as design-supported implementation. Additionally, AQUALIS provides long-term site-specific O&M to keep sites functioning as desired and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
