Inspection & Audit Support

Stormwater Inspections & Permit Audits
AQUALIS assists properties at risk of producing or introducing pollutants into the stormwater system. These sites have additional compliance expectations and stormwater permits beyond traditional regulations.
Services

Inspections conducted for the evaluation and sale of a property produce detailed documents outlining the estimated lifespan and repair costs of a property.

Stormwater permit guidelines vary from state to state, but AQUALIS experts are well versed in requirements and can ensure your property follows regulations.

AQUALIS provides record keeping for clients across the country, ensuring their SWPPP and all required reporting is organized for any audits.

Pre-Occupancy inspections conducted at the time of transition from the general contractor, who constructed the structure and site plan, to the property owner.

Following Your State's General Permit
Each state must comply with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). If the state determines the activities conducted on your property may produce or introduce pollutants into the stormwater system, you will be required to follow additional regulations. These regulations often include following an active Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan involving regular inspections and detailed record keeping.
How do I know what is required in my state?
Stormwater may be managed by various departments within your state government. Often this is determined by the Department of Water Quality, Public Works or Transportation. To learn more about your state government, browse our state compliance pages.
What is a notice of violation?
Municipalities may send property owners a notice of violation or corrective notice due to lack of compliance with stormwater regulations. The notice will include the stormwater failure and a timeline to perform repairs. Contact a stormwater professional today to remediate the notice.
What are due diligence inspections?
Due diligence inspections are environmental evaluations of the existing conditions within a property to assess potential risks or hazards. Common sources of potential environmental risk include above or underground tanks, waste management and storage, on-site sewage treatment, or hazardous waste. Less common but equally as costly are the risks posed by failing stormwater management system such as underground filter media, stormwater detention ponds and embankments, aging storm sewers which could lead to devastating sinkholes, clogged infiltration beds, and more. Understanding hazard risk on a property is crucial to successful long-term planning and management.
Who requires permits?
Permits are required by federal, state and local governing authorities to ensure that construction and operation are safe for both the public and the environment. Permits are used to ensure that designed systems are up to code. Construction permits are typically issued temporarily and will be closed once construction is complete. Operation permits extend for the life of the system, and often require renewal and/or recertification at regular intervals.
