When is a PE Inspection Needed?

AQUALIS provides comprehensive inspection services by professional engineers and/or certified inspectors. Inspections are required by law during construction and for long-term operation of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. Inspections are also beneficial to systems to identify risks early for economical and sustained system functionality.

Inspections support system function by:

  • Providing professional evaluation of the existing conditions of the system
  • Identifying non-compliance and risk of system components
  • Certifying system compliance for regulatory submission

Due diligence inspections are environmental evaluations of the existing conditions within a property to assess potential risks or hazards. Common sources of potential environmental risk include above or underground tanks, waste management and storage, on-site sewage treatment, or hazardous waste.  Less common but equally as costly are the risks posed by failing stormwater management system such as underground filter media, stormwater detention ponds and embankments, aging storm sewers which could lead to devastating sinkholes, clogged infiltration beds, and more.  Understanding hazard risk on a property is crucial to successful long-term planning and management.

SWMP and SWPPP are operational permits and require recertification and/or renewal on a regular cycle. Recertification/renewal cycles are anywhere between one and five years and will be stated in the permit. Tasks associated with permit recertification are often detailed in a signed agreement between the property owner and the permitting agency

The construction phase of a project is the culmination of design and permitting compliance and can be complicated to successfully complete without a knowledgeable professional managing the project. AQUALIS provides comprehensive construction administration and inspection services, including contractor and subcontractor coordination, material submittal review, pay application preparation and review, erosion control inspection, and design and permit compliance inspections.
