What are Due Diligence Inspections?
Due diligence inspections are environmental evaluations of the existing conditions within a property to assess potential risks or hazards. Common sources of potential environmental risk include above or underground tanks, waste management and storage, on-site sewage treatment, or hazardous waste. Less common but equally as costly are the risks posed by failing stormwater management system such as underground filter media, stormwater detention ponds and embankments, aging storm sewers which could lead to devastating sinkholes, clogged infiltration beds, and more. Understanding hazard risk on a property is crucial to successful long-term planning and management.
When is a SWMP or SWPPP Recertification Required?
SWMP and SWPPP are operational permits and require recertification and/or renewal on a regular cycle. Recertification/renewal cycles are anywhere between one and five years and will be stated in the permit. Tasks associated with permit recertification are often detailed in a signed agreement between the property owner and the permitting agency.
