Stormwater Quality Testing

AQUALIS assists property owners navigate corrective notices through remediating the polluted areas and repairing the issue at the original source.

Stormwater runoff carries pollutants from the land surface into our waterways. In urban areas, this can include sediment, deposited nutrients, heavy metals, chlorides and potentially illegal discharges.  Municipalities must apply for and maintain storm sewer discharge permits requiring the regulation of various pollutants. Municipalities then hold property owners responsible for uploading appropriate water quality. In some municipalities, if illegal discharges or high pollutant levels are found, corrective notices may be issued to property owners

Wastewater Testing

AQUALIS offers wastewater quality testing to assist treatment plants in monitoring treatment methods. Regular testing of wastewater allows treatment plants to monitor flow levels and quality to determine potential inflow and infiltration.

Additionally, AQUALIS offers wastewater testing to evaluate chemical levels appropriate for water reuse for agricultural, industrial and other non-potable uses. In agricultural practices, collecting data related to monthly pH, sludge and seepage levels ensures your property can maintain environmental compliance and troubleshoot potential issues

Water Quality Measuring

Working with regional state-certified labs, AQUALIS’ water quality services offer monthly, quarterly or annual testing to meet local regulations. AQUALIS has test capabilities for chemical and microbial contaminants including:

  • Total Coliform
  • E. coli
  • Nitrate/Nitrite
  • Iron
  • Manganese
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)
  • Turbidity

Water contaminants include: sediment, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, microorganisms, chemicals, chlorine, nitrates and phosphates.

Water should be tested if you notice a change in color, smell, turbidity or taste. It is best practice to test drinking water sources at least annually; most municipalities test daily. If you provide drinking water publicly, review the local standards for testing. Stormwater and recreational water are often tested seasonally.

PFAS describes the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances often called “forever chemicals”. This group of synthetic chemicals are used in a large variety of commercial and residential products due to their resistance to water, oil and heat. They are called “forever chemicals” because they do not naturally breakdown in the human body. Because of this new treatment methods have emerged to remove PFAS from drinking water to avoid accumulation within human bodies.
